“… sponge larvae usually are not observed in plankton samples. They are lecitotrophic and spend their short free life span most often near the bottom.” Larink, O. & Westheide, W. (2011).

This larva (specimen) had many lipid droplets and, therefore, the it remained floating on the surface of the water.
